KINGSBRIDGE Community College student Noah Capps has been selected for the 2016 GB Surf Squad.

This is an outstanding achievement as Noah still has three full years in the under 16 category he has been selected in.

Noah was awarded his place based on results from last season and video footage of his training sessions over the winter.

Noah made the under 16 final last year in the English National Championships at his first attempt and this year hopes to improve upon this whilst also competing in the Under 14 category.

This was one of the results that secured his spot. Last season, Noah also won the first event in the Rip Curl International Gromsearch series and made numerous finals against much older competitors.

Helen Tully, head of PE at KCC said: ‘We are immensely proud of Noah and his achievements. Gaining selection into the GB squad is no mean feat and is a testament to his hard work and dedication.’

Noah has been training hard through the cold weather at home and in the Canaries, and has also been filming with Martin Connolly of Discovery Surf School for volume four of his 110% surfing techniques series.

He has recently been to Holland for a promotional trip with his main sponsor, Protest sportswear and is off to France next month to train with the GB squad.

Noah is grateful for the support of Xcel wetsuits, Trioceansurf, Fuel 10k and Luke Young, who has been shaping boards every few months to keep up with his growth.

Noah is also really pleased to have gained support from the GLL Sport Foundation - with Tone Leisure - who support young athletes achieve their potential.

He will be starting the 2016 contest season soon with the British Schools Championships later this month.
