The Modbury branch of the Royal British Legion are commemorating Remembrance with a full schedule of events that residents are welcome to attend.

This all starts with the launch on Saturday, October 28, with a ceremony at 10am by Wing Commander Andy Hope, outside the Modbury post office. The ceremony will be introduced by the Town Crier and supported by members of the Royal British Legion.

Following this, on Saturday, November 4th, there is a coffee morning and cake stall at the Modbury Club between 10am and 12pm.

On Saturday, November 11 there will be another coffee morning and a grand draw from 10am to 12pm at the Exeter Inn. After this, people can come along at 11 o’clock to pay their respects at the war memorial.

Lastly, on Remembrance Day on Sunday, November 12th, the Royal British Legion, the Parish Council, Fire Brigade and youth organisations such as the Brownies and the Scouts will all meet at the war memorial. Then they will parade into the Church for a service from Rev. Michael Tangett.

After which all young children are invited to plant crosses in the war memorial; there will be a cross for all names in the war memorial and others who have passed away more recently.

For all events, any proceeds made will be going towards the Royal British Legion.
