A charity production of a Shakespeare play is returning to Salcombe for a free performance held over two days.

The Live Literature Company presents Shakespeare by the Sea in Salcombe, with the play ‘Much Ado About Nothing in One Hour’.

Directed by Valerie Doulton, and sponsored by the South Sands Hotel, the event takes place at 6pm on Saturday, June 24 and Sunday, June 25 at 6pm at Woodcot Gardens, Cliff Road.

There will be a collection on the night for RNLI & Age UK.

Audience members are welcome to take a picnic along to the event, but are asked not to bring glass.

Drama students from Niagara University, USA, will be performing at the event as part of a study abroad programme cofounded by Valerie Doulton. The programme sees students work with the Live Literature Company for eight weeks studying Shakespeare and Contemporary British Drama.

The aim of the Live Literature Company is to fuse together theatre, literature and the humanities to create performance works of excellence that are approachable to a wide audience.

The performance company said they were “dedicated to sharing and bringing forward British and worldwide literary and artistic traditions for all our audiences to enjoy”.
