Plymstock U13s 0, Kingsbridge U13s 48
A blustery day at Plymstock on Sunday saw a Kings side eager for a good start playing against the wind.
The first 10 minutes of the game were played in the centre of the pitch as each side set to draw a mistake.
Straight away you could see Kingsbridge were more up for the fight than Plymstock.
A scramble for the ball saw Ben Leetham come out with the ball, crossing outside to inside with a great run through the defence to score the first try.
Seconds later he had enough strength to drive the conversion between the posts, the ball only just going over after against a strong gust of wind.
The rest of the half was much the same, impressive strength and team support from the Kingsbridge squad, with tries from Wilf McCarthy, Ted Slade and Vadim Goss finishing off the half.
By far the most impressive try of the half was straight from the restart after a Kingsbridge try.
Wilf sprinted through the defence and offloaded to Alex Sheradon, who carried the ball on before giving the return pass to Wilf for an impressive try.
The wind played against Ben Leetham in his attempts to convert and he notched one from three.
The second half began much as the first ended, with a strong Henry Blake run allowing the supporting Alex to score a try within a minute. This time Ben landed his kick with ease.
Now with the wind against them and seriously down on points and morale, Plymstock had to cope with the loss of a player, but Kings generously donated Indy Jenson.
Another Kings try a few minutes later came after another heavy run from Henry Blake, this time Ben Leetham striding down the wing before there was another well-worked try finished off by Henry Blake. This time Flynn Bewley converted easily.
Another two injuries for Plymstock halted proceedings for a minute as Kingsbridge had to take two of their own off to make the teams match.
Despite their set-backs Plymstock actually grew stronger, holding Kingsbridge for the last 10 minutes of the game.
The elated young Kingsbridge team deserved this win and are sure this is a turning point in their season.
