KINGSBRIDGE ‘Twos’ welcomed local rivals Ivybridge’s second team to High House on Saturday.
It is some years since the ‘seconds’ of both clubs have faced each other and the difference in levels in which the two sides currently play their rugby was evident in the final score.
Kingsbridge stuck to their task manfully throughout but were challenged strongly by the well-drilled Ivybridge team, who scored early and were 0-12 up inside the first five minutes.
An interception try extended the lead further to 0-19 soon afterwards and the visitors were well clear at 0-34 by half time.
The visitors added two further tries and a drop goal during the second half to push home their superiority and finish just shy of the half century at 0-49.
This is likely to be one of the Kingsbridge A XV’s toughest encounters of the season but the way in which they stuck to their task until the final whistle should set them in good stead for the games they will face ahead.
