South Hams Bowling Club finals weekend saw a great few days of bowls, with Friday’s opening mixed pairs event won by L Crutch­ley and B Geldard.

Saturday’s morning games saw A Hammett win the men’s four wood singles, M Mit­chelmore claiming the men’s two wood singles, F Ryan winning the ladies’ two wood singles and A Elliott and M Hammett taking the drawn mixed pairs title.

The afternoon games saw A Hammett win the open single sets and J Fowler, D O’Car­roll and A Elliott win the two wood triples sets.

Sunday, the last day, kicked off with D Smith winning the ladies’ four wood singles, D Fox, V Harding and J Harding winning the mixed triples and M Hammett and F Senft triumphing in the men’s pairs.

The afternoon’s games saw A Sherlock, D Sherlock, M Geldard and B Geldard win the mixed fours, D Smith and newest member K Cross take victory in the ladies’ pairs and M Hammett walk off with the novice singles.

The club wishes to say thank you to W Hutchins, L Crutchley and Trevor Edwards for your help over the weekend with marking and and umpiring and thank you to the supporters that popped into watch and cheer on the bowlers.

In other news, a men’s friendly was held at Plymouth Life Centre on Wednesday, seeing South Hams winning on three out of four rinks.

The club also wishes to say thank you to everyone this season for making sure all the club friendlies had enough players. Please enjoy your outdoor season and will see you all again in September.

The club night will be held every Friday during the summer from 6pm until 8.30pm, with drinks after. The club invites all to come along if you want to take up the game of bowls.
