Antony Power, of South Brent, writes:
I am writing to express thanks to all those who were involved in and who attended the EU referendum debate in South Brent towards the end of April.
We were delighted with the turnout and also with the good-natured and lively debate that took place.
Particular thanks go to Cllr Julian Brazil, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate at the last election, and Justin Haque and Alan Langmaid of Ukip for giving up their time so that the residents of South Brent could have the chance to hear both sides of the argument.
While I am clearly biased as a Liberal Democrat and supporter of the remain campaign, what struck me most was how well informed and passionate the younger members of the audience were in their support of remaining in the EU.
Those of a more senior outlook were split more evenly in their views. I do hope that the younger voters will back up their support of remaining in the EU by voting in large numbers on June 23.
