LOCAL barbershop choir, The Kingsmen, have recently completed their ‘Brothers in Song’ tour to Friesland in the Netherlands.

The chorus, under the direction of Roy Hann, were hosted by the Frisian Harmonizers, a close-harmony choir based in Sneek.

They performed concerts at Da Skans Theatre in Gorredijk on Saturday night and at Ysbrechtum Village Hall on Sunday morning.

Some of the music performed included YMCA, Friesland, songs from the Jungle Book and Auld Lang Syne.

Each member of the chorus received an engraved 'Brothers in Song' tot glass, given to them as a souvenir.

In addition to their concert schedule, the chorus visited the largest steam-driven pumping station in the world at Woudagemaal, a 32km dike and the Wadden Sea.

The chorus were delayed on their trip home due to fog, which gave them the opportunity to visit Amsterdam and Rotterdam.

John Morris, marketing manager said: ‘All in all it was a fantastic tour, where the delays were all part of the experience!’
