Plastic left alongside a cooker caused a fire in Kingsbridge.

A worried neighbour called the fire service after smelling smoke coming from a house in Hurrell Road, Kingsbridge, on Wednesday at about 6.30pm. (May 16)

Fire crews from Kingsbridge, Salcombe and Modbury attended and confirmed there was an alarm sounding and that they could smell burning.

Two officers wearing breathing apparatus forced their way into the home and put out the fire.
