KINGSBRIDGE Fair Week is looking for a new Queen and attendants for the 2016/17 season.

Fair Week royalty will attend all of the events throughout Fair Week and will represent Kingsbridge at the carnivals on the South Devon circuit.

Rose Stainton, Fair Week secretary, said: ‘The winners will have an action packed year and meet many new friends. Attending all the events is paramount to continuing the success of Kingsbridge Fair Week.’

Judging for the royalty will take place on Saturday, March 19, at the Crabshell Inn in Kingsbridge. Registration is at 2.45pm with judging starting at 3pm.

The Fair Week committee is also in ‘urgent’ need having lost the ‘roof of our now ageing carnival float last year on the A38’, and they need a replacement.

Rose continued: ‘As we are a voluntary organisation we need to raise money from sponsors to provide a suitable vehicle for our Fair Queen and attendants, not only for Fair Week, but for representing Kingsbridge at other carnivals around the district.

‘Unfortunately because of the outlay involved this may have to take place over two years but we are working towards the 2016/17 season.’
