South Pool’s Easter Fete raised almost £2,000 for the Church Fabric Fund, with the weather failing to dampen spirits.

The event took place on Saturday, March 31, with a Children’s Easter Egg Hunt, an Easter bonnet Parade, the famous duck race, a barbecue provided by the Millbrook Inn and music from Nick the Fish.

Rick Marchand, duck race organiser, said: “It went extremely well, unexpectedly so because the weather was not good. We had a record number of children for the Easter Egg Hunt and a record number for the Easter Bonnet Parade.

“The duck race went exceptionally well too, with the rain meaning the stream was flowing very fast everybody enjoyed it. The Millbrook Inn put on some excellent food and contributed to the event and their support is very much appreciated. ?“Prizes were given for the first three ducks across the finish line and the first, second and third for age categories for the best Easter bonnets.

“All in all it was a highly successful day, and we’re grateful for the effort that went into it from organiser Jonathan Griffith and the volunteers.”
