A classical concert has raised £900 for Save the Children UK.

Dartmoor Strings and distinguished guest soloists played a concert of highly popular classical music to a packed audience at Thurlestone Parish Hall on March 2.

Under the baton of local musician Alastair Durden, the concert was enthusiastically received, raising £900 for Save the Children UK.

The organisers wish to “extend very warm thanks” to the following local businesses who generously supported the event with gifts for the raffle: Morrisons Kingsbridge, Buckland-Tout-Saints Hotel, Thurlestone Golf Club, Valley View Cafe, Avon Mill Cafe, Mangetout, Thurlestone Village Stores, King Print, Barrel and Still, Southwest15, Pig Finca, Healthwise, Cocoa Ladies Fashions, Nicholsons Emporium, The Harbour Bookshop, Occasional Cards, The Card Shop and Merlin Cinemas.

They also extended their thanks to those members of the Thurlestone and West Buckland WI, who gave “invaluable help” by organising and providing catering, and to all friends who supported the event.
