VILLAGERS and visitors flocked to All Hallows Church in Ringmore last Friday, to enjoy a concert of classical music by local musicians Jeno Danyi and George Albert.
The church was beautifully decorated with Easter floral arrangements, and the audience enjoyed a programme of sacred and secular classical music, interspersed with light music from films and musicals, including the Superman theme.
George on violin and his son-in-law Jeno on piano are outstanding musicians in their own right, but the emotional and joyful way in which they played together was a delight to experience.
During the interval, refreshments were served with a glass of wine and a collection of poems was read by a number of people, including poems by Walter De La Mare, John Betjeman, Roald Dahl and a superb reading of ‘Albert’s Return’ by Marriott Edgar, performed by James Stephenson.
At the end of the concert, which was held in aid of church funds, the musicians were given a standing ovation and an encore was performed.
Jeno and George perform together at Madeleine’s restaurant in Church Street, Kingsbridge on Saturday evenings and some Sunday lunchtimes.
