Elderly pet owners are seeking assistance to help with the day to day care of their beloved animals.
The National Charity, Cinnamon Trust tries to keep elderly owners and their pets together for as long as possible with the aid of a national network of volunteers.
It is a commonly known fact that pets can positively effect the well-being of elderly owners. For many, their pets are a great companion in their twilight years, providing love and comfort all day, every day.
Pets can bring happiness to a lonely life and prevent depression and despair, increasing an elderly persons quality of life.
This is where the Cinnamon Trust comes in. They are the only specialist national charity which seeks to relieve the anxieties, problems and sometimes injustices faced by elderly and terminally ill people and their pets.
The aim is to treasure the relationship between owners and their pets. For this, a large network of service volunteers has been set up to provide practical help when any part of day to day care becomes difficult. This ranges from dog walking, providing foster care if an owner goes into hospital and providing long term care if the owner dies.
The charity is trying to find some dog walking assistance for a resident in Kingsbridge with two Jack Russells-Alfie and Bea who are eight and six respectively.
Any volunteers would be gratefully received and the work can be flexible to fit in around any schedule. The charity would like to emphasise that even one walk a week can make a huge difference.
If anyone would like to get involved with walking these Jack Russell’s then please contact Sally directly on 01736 758707 or email [email protected].
Additionally, the volunteers can gain access to our volunteer page on our website on www.cinnamon.org.uk or by emailing us at [email protected].
