Plans for Devon County Show 2023 are now well underway, with exciting new features and headliners back on the menu.

The show takes place at the Westpoint Arena and Showground at Clyst St Mary near Exeter.

Showgoers will be treated to displays by the top-billing act, The Bolddogs FMX Motorcycle Display team, a mascot race as well as a new brand new feature – the Devon Innovation Zone.

The brainchild of the Show’s 2023 President, The Hon John Rous DL, this area will showcase Devon’s prowess in the innovation sector. The organisers will be reaching out to start-ups as well as existing organisations who are able to demonstrate outstanding original ideas with a particular emphasis on farming and agriculture.

A Devon Gallery, another new feature which will lead up to the Members’ Pavilion intends to position Devon County Show as a valuable partner in the county’s creative landscape. Several artists will be invited to exhibit with a ‘Made in Devon’ theme.

The 2023 Show line up will also include the full quota of livestock and associated competitions, the finest of Devon food, vintage tractors and a massive marquee packed to the rafters with crafting and gardening ideas. The Premier Dog Show, which last year was awarded a certificate of excellence from the Kennel Club, will also return to the showground.

Lisa Moore, Acting Devon County Show Manager comments: ‘We’ve had two years where the Show hasn’t been quite where we wanted it due to Covid. But with all that hopefully behind us, we can now get back on track and stage the show of all shows for our loyal visitors who have stuck with us over the past three years through thick and thin. They thoroughly deserve it.’

The 2023 Devon County Show is delighted to return to its May dates and be the first of the major agricultural shows on the circuit. ‘We have all missed this slot’ continues Lisa. ‘It’s a very special time of year. Spring is in the air, and it’s the first time that farmers and their animals get out after a long winter to socialise and compete. The excitement in the air is always palpable.’

‘Bringing back a headline act to the main arena is something we know our audience will welcome. We’ve worked with the Bolddogs FMX team several times in the past and they really know how to entertain the crowd with their daredevil antics and heart-stopping displays, and, we believe, will appeal to particularly children and families.’

There will also be many trade stands

The Devon County Show 2023 takes place on Thursday May 18, Friday 19 and Saturday 20.
