Last Sunday saw the return of the Kingsbridge Gymnastics Club interclub championships, held at the Quayside Leisure Centre. More than 100 gymnasts, both boys and girls, aged from three to 16 competed in three disciplines, vault, trampette and floor.
This was a fabulous day, enjoyed by both children and parents and really showcased the great work carried out by head coach Sandy Fisher and her team of Lissa Hilliard, Catherine Edmonds, Adrian Masters and Ann Gomm.
The club also wishes to thank former coach Ginny French, who came back to help out on the day.
There were plenty of medals won and Kingsbridge mayor Cllr Wayne Grills was on hand to present them. There were also seven special awards given to gymnasts who had given their all in the weeks and months leading up to the event.
Esther Wing, the chair of the gym club’s committee, said: ‘The event was fantastic, who knew there were so many talented gymnasts out there? Everyone seemed to be having a great time and the standard was very high’.
Plenty of valuable fundraising was also done by the committee, with cash raised at a recent Tesco bag packing day to be put towards buying new equipment.
