South Hams Bowling Club’s men had a friendly against Corn­wall I.B.A recently, where they lost on three rinks but won on one.

Rink one of Trevor Edwards, Jeff Bulbul­ian, David Sherlock and Skip John Brothers lost 13-21. Rink two with David Fox, Don Havis, Eric Williams and Skip Chris Adams went down 16-24.

Rink three comprising Wilf Hutchins, Dan O’Carroll, Matthew Hammett and skip John Harding won 19-14.

Rink four consisting of Bill Rogers, Anthony Davies, John Yeabsley and skip John Fowler were defeated 9-23. Overall South Hams lost 57 shots to 82.

On Saturday South Hams men played in the Charles Parrott Knockout Cup against Sidmouth.

The away rink of An­to­ny Hammett, David Fox, Bill McKim and Skip Eric Williams won narrowly 20-18.

The home rink of Rich­ard Good, Matth­ew Hammett, Frank Senft and skip David Hurrell won convincingly 32-12, thus the Hams won overall by 52 shots to 30.

The next round will either be against Kingsly or ISCA.

On Sunday a mixed friendly saw the Hams welcoming long-time friends Lee Moor Outdoor Bowling Club to the town.

In the 18 ends allocated South Hams won overall in what was a game played in a great atmosphere.

Rink one with D Fox, J Bruce and skip N Cox won, as did rink two comprising B Burgess-Allen, T.Lewis and skip J Sherrard. Rink three of J Fowler, D Havis and skip M Hammett also took the win but rink four consisting of P Bond, D Bond and skip A Elliott lost.

South Hams has a club night on every Friday night at 6pm, where all newcomers are welcome to come along and try the game out free of charge for the first four weeks.
