A COUPLE held their reception at the home of the parents of the bride in Kingsbridge after being married at Quay House.

Anastasia Boreham married Haytham Malek in Quay House, Kingsbridge, on Friday, July 29, before having their reception at Higher Barnfield, Fore Street.

Anastasia, daughter of Dr Stephen and Mrs Mary Boreham, is an assistant head teacher in Stratford, London, where her new husband Haytham, son of Malek and Sharifa Abu Al Temmen, North London, is a Martial Arts practitioner. They live in Camden.

Guests came from far and wide to attend the wedding, from Austria, Sweden, Iran, Finland and Japan. Anastasia’s brother Raphael travelled over from Myanmar, where he works with the International Committee of the Red Cross, especially for the event.

Mrs Susan Hearson of Hartley Wintney, Hampshire, and Professor Maria Alevizaki from Athens, Greece, who are Anastasia’s godmothers and last met at her christening at Westminster Abbey, attended the celebrations.

Anastasia’s mum, Mary, said: ‘Celebrations took place in the garden of Higher Barnfield, with amazing food from Liz Turner of The Dinner Service, an ice cream bicycle from Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream and lively music played by Signs Of Life form Kingkerswell.

‘Jill Baldry of Kingsbridge made a beautiful posy of flowers from her garden and Anastasia’s hair was done by Jo Devlin. The weather co-operated and the occasion was rounded off by spectacular fireworks.’

The couple spent their honeymoon in Barcelona, Spain, before returning home to Camden, London.
