People of all ages and abilities are being invited to try their hand at indoor bowls during a series of free starter sessions being held in Kingsbridge this September.
South Hams Indoor Bowling Club, based at the Bowls Hall in the Quayside Leisure Centre, will host four Saturday morning sessions, starting at 10am and finishing at midday.
The sessions are open to anyone interested in learning more about the sport, with coaching and advice available from experienced club members. Bowling woods will be provided, but participants are asked to bring flat-soled shoes to wear on the green.
The club’s season runs from October through to April, and offers a range of opportunities for new and experienced bowlers. Members can take part in internal league bowling sessions held during mornings, afternoons and evenings, while men’s and ladies’ representative teams compete in county competitions.
The club also runs Sunday morning roll-up sessions from 10.30am until midday, giving players a relaxing space to enjoy the game.
A weekly club night is held every Friday evening from 6.30pm, welcoming bowlers of all abilities and ages. Organisers say it provides an ideal introduction for those looking to start playing bowls in a friendly environment.
The club is also launching a new venture with the opening of the Balcony Bar above the bowling hall. Open on Friday evenings from 7pm to 9pm, the bar will be available to bowling club members, leisure centre members, families and visitors, offering drinks and light refreshments at affordable prices.
South Hams Indoor Bowling Club is also available to host corporate events for clubs and organisations, including coaching sessions and refreshments.
Anyone wanting more information about the free starter sessions or joining the club can contact Dave on 01548 85339.
More information can also be found on the club ‘A’ board in the centre's reception.
