A SERVICE of remembrance of life will be held at St Edmunds Church in Kingsbridge, giving people a chance to remember loved ones at Christmas.
The Rev Jackie Taylor said: ‘Whilst Christmas is a time of celebration it can also be a time that brings many different emotions, particularly with the absence of a loved one.
‘We hope that a special service, “a remembrance of life”, might be of help, offering a moment to reflect and remember together with others and the opportunity to place a star on the tree in remembrance of a loved one.’
The tree has been donated by Hallett, Perring and Perrot of Kingsbridge, as they did last year, and will stay in the church through until Christmas, allowing people to place a star in memory of their loved ones.
‘We had stars at the entrance of the church last year’, said The Rev Jackie, ‘and by Christmas Day it was covered in memories.’
The Tree of Light and Remembrance Service will be held at 6pm on Tuesday, December 13, at St Edmund, King and Martyr, Fore Street, Kingsbridge.
Stars will be available in St Edmund’s during the day from that date until Christmas for anyone who would like to place one on the tree in memory of a loved one.
Jackie concluded: ‘We are most grateful to Hallett, Perring and Perrot for their support with this service and their generous donation of the Christmas Tree for our Tree of Light and Remembrance.’
