THE Rotary Club of Kingsbridge has a new president in Sylvia Griffin as Phyllis Angliss steps down.
The Rotary Club of Kingsbridge held their AGM at the Church House Inn in Churchstow where Sylvia took over her new role. Ex-Kingsbridge Town Councillor Wayne Grills was also named President Nominee.
Speaking about her time as president, Phyllis Angliss said: ‘We had a great year this year everyone has rallied round to help committees and raise funds for the Rotary Foundation, the only real Rotary charity that encompasses End Polio Now.
‘This was my second term as president and I wish Sylvia well with her year and I hope she enjoys it.’
Sylvia Griffin said she was ‘nervous’ about taking on the role. ‘This is my first time in this kind of position and I’m apprehensive but everyone has been really welcoming’, she said.
‘I came along with a friend to a Rotary lunch meeting and now I’m president. My challenge for this year is to help us and the Rotary Club of Kingsbridge Estuary to do more joined up Rotary things. Not to amalgamate, but work together. We already work together on Rotaproj and we want to help each other out.
‘I want to thank Phyllis for having steered the ship so competently.’
