THE development of the Port Light Hotel near Salcombe is now underway and is only using local contractors.
Owners Sean and Hazel Hassell say they are ‘delighted’ to have secured a building contract with local building company WM Construction, which will be under the guidance of co-director Kris Mahon.
‘The project ethos since its conception in 2010 was to only use local contractors to develop the site and this has been achieved, therefore fuelling the local economy by £1.5 million’ said Sean Hassell.
A statement from the owners reads: ‘The Ocean Reach development consists of two, three and five bedroom properties, all with their own garages and two designated marking spaces. The properties are sold on a 999 year lease with the lease holders also gaining a pro rata percentage of the freehold on completion.
‘Every window from every property has panoramic sea views, either towards France, the Lizard Peninsular and Dartmoor. Even the bathrooms have sea views.
‘Ocean Reach will also offer a bespoke letting service for purchasers wanting to maximise their investment by letting their property out whilst also enjoying carefree holidays. This will also enable previous guests of Port Light to enjoy the very best holiday experience on the South West Coast path.
‘During the demolition, 85 per cent of the building was recycled or up-cycled within the local community.
‘The new detached restaurant and bar will have uninterrupted views across Bolberry Down and out into the English Channel which will also be complemented by a glazed outside dining area for all.
‘The restaurant will be leased to the people who will provide the best service to Ocean Reach owners, guests and locals alike making it a true destination venue.
‘The National Trust and it’s partners have invested considerable time and money making Bolberry Down more accessible for all and Ocean Reach will be the final complement to this facility in a unique location 450 feet above the sea.
‘Charles Head Estate Agents have been appointed marketing agents with strong interest already received. The first houses will be available from mid June 2017. When completed, the site will provide continual employment for local people for years to come.
‘Full details can be obtained from Charles Head, www.oceanreach.eu, Ocean Reach Facebook page or WM construction Facebook page to watch the works being completed.’
