Salcombe’s Open Spaces, Sport and Recreation Plan is coming to the end of its public consultation.
Salcombe Town Council is urging residents to have a look at it, and send any comments into the Town Clerk by Thursday, May 31.
The aim of the OSSR plan is to set out priorities for the next ten years for enhancing open space, sport and recreation facilities within the parish of Salcombe.
This has been achieved by consulting with existing clubs and community organisations in the parish to gauge aspirations and identify gaps and deficiencies in the current provision of facilities.
This local need is reviewed in the context of strategic plans that include the parish of Salcombe, including the South Hams OSSR Study, South Hams and West Devon Playing Pitch Strategy, South Hams Green Infrastructure Framework and South Devon AONB Management Plan.
The OSSR plan will help to meet the demand for new and improved facilities generated from new developments, including further enhancements to the play and youth facilities across the parish, both in terms of quality and quantity. It clearly reflects evidence of need and community aspirations in upgrading and providing further facility requirements of the community.
South Hams District Council have and will request contributions from new housing developments towards new and improved OSSR facilities where it is considered that a development will have significant impact on the local area.
