Coming to the end of National Young Farmers Week, many people have noticed the impressive straw figure peering over the hedge line when driving along the Salcombe to Kingsbridge road.

Kingsbridge Young Farmers have joined in the action this week through the building of this bale sculpture. Positioned cleverly at the South Milton turning, the straw sculpture is not easily missed by drivers, making it a perfect advertisement for the club.

The eye-catching sculpture will hopefully encourage even more members to join the Kingsbridge branch. KYF welcome anyone to join and emphasise that there is no necessity to be a farmer. They are just a group of young people, aged between 10-26 who would love to welcome new faces.

The club meet every other Tuesday in the winter months and monthly during the summer time with a range range of activities on offer including public speaking, stock judging, sports, pantomime and many social activities around the area. In addition, they raise a lot of money for charities each year, specifically for the Triangle Outreach Drop in Cancer Support Centre in Kingsbridge last year.

If anyone is interested in joining or would like to know some more information then ring the current chairman Tom Darke on 07743 942789 or the secretary Sadie Darke on 07557 444802. They will be very happy to answer any questions you have and more details of what they’ve been up to recently is on their Facebook page.
