MEMBERS of the Kingsbridge Town Bowling Club and their friends enjoyed an evening to mark the 90th birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday, April 21.
The evening began with informal drinks followed by a two-course supper of sausage hotpot followed by bread pudding and custard.
The event’s organiser, Sue Allen and her team did a splendid job decorating the clubhouse and cooking the food.
Captain Keith Baston gave a brief speech and a toast to Her Majesty.
The evening was a great success, and more than £300 was raised for club funds.
The club’s first match was played in 1917 and therefore next year will be their centenary.
A match has been organised with the Devon President’s team in June 2017 and more events will be arranged to commemorate their first 100 years.
If anyone is interested in playing bowls, come along to their club night on Eastern Backway, on Wednesdays at 6pm.
All we ask is that flat shoes are worn.
