THE Rose Bowl has been presented to William Tucker for his contribution to the Kingsbridge branch of the RBL.
The Rose Bowl is presented to a Royal British Legion ‘committee member who has made a great contribution throughout the year’ and contains the medal awarded to John Chilton for his tireless work to set up the Kingsbridge branch at the top of Fore Street in 1945.
When John died in 1968, his wife presented the medal back to the branch and it was mounted on the Rose Bowl, which became an annual award for outstanding work by committee members.
William Tucker, branch officer, was presented with John Chilton Rose Bowl at the branch’s AGM last week by branch chairman John Peacock and branch president Ken Court.
