KINGSBRIDGE Family Church is opening its doors for 24 hours of prayer next week, to show solidarity with other Christians around the world.
From 7am on Wednesday, April 6, through to 7am on Thursday, April 7, the church on Baptist Lane, off Fore Street, will be opened and manned for 24 hours of prayer.
Graham Fish, Kingsbridge Family Church said: ‘We live in strange times some would say difficult times, the world is changing fast and not always in ways we like or understand.
‘We have the most sophisticated means of communication yet world leaders fail to talk about the most urgent problem of caring for others who are in great need. Wealth and resources are unfairly distributed.
‘The very rich exist next to the very poor. We are thinking differently and approaching life with new and searching questions. ‘What can I do about it?’ is often on our lips.
The challenges for Christians and the church at this time are profound.
‘Yet the call to be witnesses of Jesus Christ in whatever circumstances we find ourselves is still the same. Christians in other parts of the world are being persecuted even murdered for their faith.
‘That challenges me profoundly to my core. What can I do about it? I can pray, we all can pray. It’s the place to start. By joining together for prayer we show our faith in God and the fact that we are the body of Christ in the community.
‘We may have different styles of worship but we all believe in the God who answers our prayers.’
