Jane Stanley, of Thurlestone, writes:
We would like to thank all those who helped us when we broke down between California Cross and the A38 last month.
Firstly PC4736 from Torquay who stopped and placed a sign to slow down the on-coming traffic.
He returned 10 minutes later to see if we were all right and to speed up the RAC who managed to start the car and lead us to Victoria Garage in Ivybridge where the manager and receptionist could not have been more helpful.
They dropped us off in the town centre and then collected the required part themselves from Plymouth.
Four hours later and finding the problem with the car more complex than originally anticipated, they collected us from the town centre, tried in vain to find a car we could hire and finally offered to drive us back home to collect our second car.
Finally, 12 hours after leaving home, on a memorable wedding anniversary, we arrived in London.
Clearly the days of kindness and excellent service are not over and we are extremely grateful to Ian, Sam, Mark and Clare who all came to our rescue.
