In the early hours of Sunday morning, the white Christmas lights were ripped from the tree and three or four baubles were broken. As the town woke up to the mess, Sergeant David Green, neighbourhood team leader posted a message to social media, expressing his disappointment and hope that someone would come forward to own up to the damage: ‘If anyone woke up, or anyone you know woke up on Sunday morning with the thought that they did something stupid the night before, they are welcome to come and talk to us or to staff at Kingsbridge Town Council so that we can sort this out.’

The trawler rests on a plinth painted to look like the sea and is personalised with the name ‘Emma C.’
However, the identity of the mysterious craftsmen eludes Emma.
