THE SOUTH Hams Hospital League of Friends have drawn the winning tickets from their Christmas raffle, raising £651 for the hospital in Kingsbridge.
The raffle was drawn on Friday, December 11 by Peggy Phillips, a patient at the hospital. First prize was won by James McNamara from Kingsbridge who won a hamper. Second prize was won by Arthur Luscombe from East Allington, who won £50 towards a meal at the Winking Prawn. Third prize was won by Dotty Vaughan from The Mounts, who won Sunday lunch for two at the Cottage Hotel in Hope Cove. And fourth prize was won by a Mr Chapman from Modbury, who won two paddle-board lessons with Waterborn.
Daphne Jefferson, chair of South Hams Hospital LOF said: ‘Obviously all the funds we receive are very important. We’re very grateful to the residents of the South Hams for continuing to support us. We hope people will continue to support the hospital. Sincere thanks also go to the Winking Prawn, the Cottage Hotel and Waterborn for donating the raffle prizes.
Daphne continued: ‘It has been brought to our notice that not everyone in the South Hams is aware that the minor injuries unit at South Hams Hospital is open seven days a week from 9am to 5pm.
‘Everyone suffering a minor injury between 9am and 5pm can be seen at the hospital and saved the long drive to one of our acute hospitals - this will include every day over the Christmas period.
‘We would also like to highlight that dialysis is now available at the hospital, with a doctor’s referral.’
