East Allington Primary School are delighted to secure a £750 grant from Kingsbridge Estuary Rotary for a poly tunnel.

Tom Pether, Head Teacher has been working with staff to develop infrastructure for children to be able to extend their learning outdoors.

The school is planning to use the tunnel to give the children the opportunity to learn all year round in a teaching space where they can develop maths, science and team building skills. It will also provide healthy food to be used in the school kitchens.

The Rotary panel of judges who decide how the grants should be used, meet each of the five short-listed grant applicants. The decision was “difficult” with good cases being put forward by all, said Tim Patterson from the rotary club.

The Primary school was selected because of the wide range of benefits available to the pupils.

The quarterly run grant scheme is open for next years applications which need to be submitted by Wednesday, January 31. Forms can be found on the estuary rotary website at www.estuaryrotary.org.uk.

All local schools, clubs and organisations that have a project, need equipment or have an event are welcome to apply.
