About 80 people attended the launch of a new book, East Prawle Through the Ages, on Wednesday, May 17.

Author Kate Jennings gave a short presentation explaining how the idea of the book came to her while helping to start the East Prawle History Society.

The society gathered many photos of the village and put them together on a database, but it seemed to Kate that further explanation was required to put them into context.

She spent many hours talking to some of the older residents and the book is based on their recollections, further research into subjects they raised and the photos of the village and documents relating to them.

During the evening around 100 books were sold. All the profits from the book will go to the Chivelstone Church Repair Fund.?The book is available from the Pigs Nose Inn, the Piglet Stores in East Prawle, Ashbys and the Harbour Bookshop in Kingsbridge - where Kate will be signing books on Monday, July 10.
