East Allington’s Summer Fete will be in aid of St Andrew’s Church when it takes place on Saturday, July 8.
The church and neighbouring field will be filled with stalls, games and activities to tempt, challenge and entertain all ages. Visitors can try their hand at a variety of sideshow classics including Splat the Rat, Hook a Duck, Roll a Penny and Beat the Buzzer.
Local band, Blurred Vision, will perform live, playing a mix of rock and pop covers from the 1960s through to the present day. A bar, barbecue and cake stall will keep visitors fed and watered throughout the afternoon.
Teams of 6-8 are invited to take part in the Tug of War contest, sponsored by Dartmoor Brewery. If you can’t field a team of your own, simply turn up and join a team on the day. No prior experience needed.
Parachuting teddy bears will take to the skies for a bird’s eye view of the fete. Children are encouraged to bring along a teddy, or other cuddly toy, and make their very own custom parachute before watching from the ground as their furry friends bravely skydive off the church tower.
A bouncy castle will also keep kids entertained.
A selection of classic cars will be on show at the Fortescue Arms during the fete. Contact the pub on 01548 521215 if you would like to include your vehicle in the display.
Raffle tickets will be available to buy on the day and can also be purchased in advance at East Allington village shop and the Fortescue Arms.
Top prizes include dinner, bed and breakfast for two at the Two Bridges hotel on Dartmoor, a meal for two at the Fortescue Arms, half a crate of wine and entrance for two adults and two children to the National Trust’s Overbeck’s, including afternoon tea.
