A founder member of the South Hams Area Wellbeing, SHAW, has run the length of Devon to raise money.

Dr James Mottram, along with friend Will Turner, left Lynton Harbour at 5.30am on Friday morning, making their way south to the familiar coast of the South Hams.

105 miles, 37 hours, thousands of calories, and hundreds of stiles over the beautiful Devon countryside later, the two of them arrived at Wonwell beach at the mouth of the Erme estuary, sore but somewhat elated.

They set out to try and get to the southern-most point of Devon which would have been Prawle Point, but given the heat over the two days, they were more than happy to achieve north to south Devon coast.

Dr Mottram said: “We would both like to thank all the support and sponsorship along the way from friends and family, and a special mention to Roger Turner who made up the support crew and was instrumental in ensuring we were always well hydrated and fed along our journey.

“So far we have raised just over £3,000 and would be really grateful for any more sponsorship towards South Hams Area Wellbeing, a social enterprise company that has recently been formed to improve local people’s wellbeing through social interventions.”
