A South Devon home care provider has raised £387 to help combat loneliness this Christmas after a successful day at the Kingsbridge Show.
CareYourWay South Devon returned as a sponsor of the popular event for the second consecutive year, joining thousands of visitors for a day celebrating the people, businesses and organisations of the South Hams.
The CareYourWay stand was busy throughout the day, with bubbles, competitions, goodies and a fundraising raffle attracting plenty of visitors.
The team also spoke with local families about the care and support available across the area.
The money raised will support CareYourWay’s Present for a Pensioner campaign, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this Christmas.
The campaign was founded in South Devon in 2016 with the aim of helping combat loneliness during the festive period.
Local people can nominate someone who may be spending Christmas alone, or who might otherwise be forgotten, to receive a luxury festive hamper and a reminder that their community is thinking of them.
What began as a local initiative has since expanded across the country, with CareYourWay franchise offices bringing Present for a Pensioner to communities around the UK each year.
Fundraising will continue in the coming months, with local businesses and community supporters helping to bring this year’s hampers together.
CareYourWay South Devon said it was grateful to everyone who visited its stand, donated, entered the raffle or stopped for a chat during the show.
The company has provided home care since 2005 and supports people across Plymouth, the South Hams and Torbay to remain independent in their own homes and communities.
As Present for a Pensioner reaches its 10th anniversary, CareYourWay said its message remains as important as ever that, “nobody in the community should feel forgotten at Christmas.”
