A WOMAN in Kingsbridge found her car had been sealed up with industrial strength glue last weekend.

The red Citroën, which was parked by the old St John’s Ambulance building on Fore Street had its locks, petrol cap, doors and wiper blades super glued.

Nicholas Bradshaw, whose daughter was the victim of the vandalism wrote to the Gazette this week saying: ‘It caused hundreds of pounds’-worth of damage. My daughter has three jobs; she studies to become a teacher, she works as a carer and works in a pub; she worked hard to buy the car.

‘The people who spoiled the car presumably feel they are making some sort of contribution to society; I would like the opportunity to explain to them that they are not.’

Police said that these crimes are often a retaliation, although ‘the owner of the vehicle is a lovely person and we do not know the motive behind it.’

Sgt Dave Green, neighbourhood team leader from Kingsbridge Police said: ‘We believe the glue came from a burglary nearby at the weekend, and both matters are being investigated jointly.

‘We’d like to hear from family or friends of anyone who came home with superglue on them or smelling of superglue at the weekend.
