Nine teenage holidaymakers have been rescued after drifting out to sea on bodyboards and a rubber ring.

They were spotted getting into trouble in the water off Soar Mill Cove on Thursday, July 18.

Salcombe RNLI launched the inshore and all-weather lifeboats to save them.

The group, aged between 16 and 18, managed to scramble on to rocks before being rescued by the all-weather boat.

They were taken to Salcombe Lifeboat Station to dry off, have a drink and get warm.

The teenagers were said to be “somewhat embarrassed” but “very grateful for the help given”.

The RNLI said the teenagers were soon reunited with their families to carry on the rest of their holiday.

None of them were injured.
