SALCOMBE RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat, the Baltic Exchange III, was launched yesterday to reports of a capsized RIB.
The call came in on Thursday, April 7 just before noon, that two people were in the water on the Bar at the entrance to Salcombe harbour.
The two casualties were taken aboard the lifeboat, and taken back to the station with the RIB in tow, arriving back in Salcombe at 12.35pm.
A spokesperson for the RNLI said: ‘Thankfully the casualties were both alright, if a little cold, wet and shaken.
‘They were both wearing lifejackets and had a VHF radio with them, which they used to contact the coastguard for assistance.’
This was Salcombe RNLI’s fifth launch of the year to date.
