POLICE are urging people to keep their cars locked after a spate of break ins in Salcombe.

Overnight from Tuesday, January 17, to Wednesday, January 18, police received reports of four cars being broken into and property taken from them and one stolen.

A Grey VW Polo, registration number WF61FYR, was stolen from Berry Close, and four other cars were broken into, but they were all left unlocked.

A spokesman for the police said: ‘Please ensure your vehicle is kept locked at all times and the keys kept secure in your house, away from any open windows or letterboxes.

‘Please ensure no property is left inside your vehicles which could be stolen and if you have to leave it in your vehicle then keep it out of view.

‘If you have an immobiliser and alarm then please ensure they are set when securing your vehicle.’
