A South Hams man has been handed a suspended jail sentence after being convicted of three drink-driving offences in just over one month.
David Turner, 73, admitted drink-driving at the Olde Smokey pub car park in Marldon on August 20, when he was found to be more than three times over the limit.
He was found guilty of drink-driving on September 30 at Paignton, when he was found to be just under twice the legal limit.
He also admitted failing to provide a specimen after being suspected of drink-driving in Paignton on September 21.
He also admitted two offences of driving without a driving licence.
Newton Abbot Magistrates Court sentenced Turner to four weeks in prison, suspended for 18 months.
Magistrates said the prison sentence was imposed because the offence was so serious, as it amounted to a series of drink-driving offences and a “disregard for the safety of the public”.
Turner, of Village Road, Marldon, near Totnes, was also banned from driving for a total of three years and was told he would need to pass another driving test.
He was further ordered to pay £200 in court costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
