A new sign has appeared on the A381, to warn about the possibility of octopus sightings.
A sign appeared on Wednesday evening but had disappeared on Thursday morning, however it reappeared on Thursday afternoon in all its glory.
The prankster who created the ’warning sign’ but wished to remain anonymous said: "I whittled it out of a old shipwreck timber that the great uncle of the octopus ’the Kracken’ destroyed in 1896."
This has come about after the driver of a car that overturned in a crash told police he ’swerved to avoid an octopus’.
Emergency services were called to the A381 near the South Milton turning, between Kingsbridge and Salcombe, at around 5.30pm on Tuesday, where a car had crashed.
The driver of the red Suzuki Swift, a 49-year-old man from Salcombe, was arrested on suspicion of drug driving. He was released under investigation pending further inquiries on Wednesday afternoon.
