Emergency services have been called out this afternoon to rescue a man who slipped and fell into water.

Fire crews attended the scene, at the Embankment in Kingsbridge around 2.30pm and pulled the man, who was suffering from cold and shock but was not seriously injured, to safety from the ria.

Crews covered him with blankets while awaiting the air ambulance, which landed just before 3pm, with the ground ambulance arriving shortly afterwards. The man was treated by paramedics with the air ambulance stood down.

Two members of the public called the man’s wife to inform her of the situation and let her know the victim was being looked after.
