Thieves have stolen engines from aeroplanes at Halwell Airfield, with a value exceeding £100,000.

Kingsbridge Police attended the scene on Wednesday morning after offenders broke in and stole engines from planes during the previous night. The value of the stolen property is estimated to be more than £100,000.Local South Hams Councillor Keith Wingate, who has a hanger at Halwell Airfield said that while he had not been affected, the thieves had targeted "three resident and one visitor aircraft", and added that his hanger had been broken into three weeks ago but that no damage had been done. Police are appealing for information, saying: “if you saw anyone suspicious in the area or saw any vehicles leaving the airfield overnight, then please get in touch quoting CR/46965/17”.
