A year 8 student has been selected to represent Devon at the 24th World Scout Jamboree in the United States.

Will Keetley, a year 8 student at Kingsbridge Community College is one of 63 lucky people to represent the county in West Virginia in the summer of 2019.

4,300 Scouts have been chosen from the UK to go on this life-changing trip in 18 months time where they will join fellow scouts from over 150 countries.

After celebrating his selection, Will is now in the process of raising £4,100 to make his attendance possible. Part of the money he raises will go towards enabling Scouts from less well-off countries to also attend.

The location, the Summit Bechtel Reserve will offer scouts an unforgettable experience, making the most from the longest zip-line in the world, the biggest skate park, over 36 miles of mountain biking trails and the largest man made climbing zone.

During the programme, the Scouts will have great opportunities for personal development including cultural understanding, leadership, service, adventure and international friendship.

If you would like to support Will with his fundraising, he would be very grateful for any donations to his JustGiving page. Will is also willing to do odd jobs and car washing, or help with any boating jobs in return for a contribution.

Meanwhile, if you are a local business owner or manager or run a local charity, and would like to sponsor or support Will in any way then please contact Will’s mum, Amanda Keetley on [email protected] for more details.
