The ladies' club championship, held last weekend, was won by Jo Shorrocks, retaining the title she won last year writes Rosemary Sharps.
In the morning round Jo shot a solid 74, the lowest gross score for round one. Melanie Adcock (lady vice captain) equalled Jo's net score of 72, with Mary Wilcox scoring 94, gross net 74, and Amanda Burchell also scored a gross 82, net 74.
In the afternoon the wind got up and the combination of fast greens, tough pin positions and the strong wind made conditions very tough and scores were generally much higher, so much so that the second round was deemed to be handicap reductions only. Jo's second round score was 10 higher than her morning score, and again the lowest gross of round two, giving her 84 gross and a 158 total.
Amanda Burchell was declared runner-up with a total of 173. Julie Leach, scoring 91 gross for both her rounds, came in with 182 gross and third place.
The handicap prize went to Lucinda Kirkham with 154 net on countback from Jo, Lucinda's second-round net score being superior.
Melanie Adcock in the morning round and Julie Leach in the afternoon round won the Rose Bowls for the best net scores.
