Thurlestone Golf Club
The ladies had to cancel their competition on Wednesday as the course was waterlogged but I do have some results to report writes Liz Line.
The England Golf Medal is awarded annually for net medal scores throughout the year in each golf club. Competition was fierce for the prize and it went to computer countback. Jennifer Roberts (3) just took top spot with a total net score of 296, from Liz Sharman (18) with the same number.
However, the computer calculation on the best back nine of the four medals gave Jennifer 160, just beating Liz with 161. Jennifer will represent Thurlestone at the Devon Medal final at Dainton Park on Wednesday, May 2.
The next results were the Devon County Medals which are calculated on the best three medals over the year. The Silver Medal winner was Gill Hicks with a score of 216, from runner-up Liz Sharman with 218.
In the bronze division the winner was Gill Markham with 220 from Diane Baker with 227. Gill Hicks and Gill Markham will represent Thurlestone at Downes Crediton on Tuesday, April 17, in the County Medal finals.
The Devon county also gives prizes to the ladies with the best four stableford scores throughout the year in each club. The winner was Jennifer Roberts again with 146 stableford points, from Judith Lungmuss with 143.
In third place was Jane Mahood with 137 points, and fourth Liz Hay with 133.
Congratulations to all the winners for playing so consistently well throughout the year.
