Bigbury Golf Club

What a week this has been with snow and high winds writes Sally Errett!

The golf club was cut off for a couple of days, then the snow on the road was cleared sufficiently to allow ‘a Cresta run’ which was both exciting and challenging – especially if you happened to meet a car coming the other way!

Fortunately now the roads are accessible and the golf course is drying out.

The only golf competition I can report on took place on Sunday, February 25, – the men’s three-ball team event.

In first place with 76 points were Steve Inch (5), Darren Mutton (4) and Jed Spedding (8). In second place, on countback, with 73 points were Ben Guest (8), Hamish Maclachlan (16) and Matt Smallridge (11). In third place, also on 73 points were Dave Anderton (15), Liam Kimber (9) and Jack Pepperell (9).

Margaret Taylor was the Bigbury Golf Club winner of the England Golf Bronze County Medal. This county medal is awarded annually to the lady who recorded the best net scores from nine designated rounds of golf.

The County Bronze Final is to be held at Dainton Park Golf Club in May and Margaret Taylor will be representing Bigbury Golf Club at this regional final.

The County Silver Final will be held at Downes Crediton in April, and Lucinda Kirkham will be representing Bigbury Golf Club. We wish them both good luck.
