Kingsbridge ace angler Roger Simcox set a new British record in the boat category for gilt head bream with a specimen of 10lbs 2ozs 4dms.
The bream was caught from his own boat in the Bag at Salcombe with the assistance of 10-day old very smelly lugworm.
It is the fourth British record set by Roger, including that of the turbot of 33lbs 12ozs taken off Salcombe in 1980.
Its weight has never been seriously approached in the five years since the great catch was made.
