THE Buckland Box in West Buckland is now home to the village defibrillator, just in time for the Easter event.

The British Heart Foundation, who has also donated teaching materials so that residents can learn CPR and how to use a defibrillator, has supplied the AED – Automatic External Defibrillator, which is located in the Buckland Box – the old phone box.

Using a defibrillator is actually really easy. You can’t shock someone who doesn’t require it, and the machine talks you through every step, meaning you just follow the instructions and it does all the work for you.

An Easter event was held at the Buckland Box on Good Friday, March 25, moved from the following day at short notice because of the adverse weather forecast for Easter Saturday. Sixty people attended, a third were children, who went with their parents and the White Rabbit, AKA Carey Ryan-Carter, to find clues in the woods in Buckland, and complete a crossword, devised by Carey.

Refreshments were served, chocolate eggs were eaten, and everyone enjoyed the beautiful afternoon. Photos of the event can be seen on the Buckland Box Facebook page.
