WEST Alvington Hill will be closed for ‘essential repairs’ from Wednesday, January 13 until Monday, January 18.

A sign has appeared in the village stating: ‘Working to improve your water services. This road will be closed for essential repairs from Wednesday, January 13 until Monday, January 18.’

One local resident described the sign as ‘very inadequate, which you can only read if you drive past very slowly, with a magnifying glass.’

The repairs have been arranged by South West Water, although beyond the sign, no details of the works have been publicised.

The work will surely create congestion in Churchstow, as the village becomes the main thoroughfare for diverted traffic travelling to and from Kingsbridge and Salcombe.
